“The times they are urgent. Let us slow down.”
~Bayo Akomolafe
The familiar is dying. These challenging times are demanding that we find new ways of being in relationship to ourselves, to each other, and to the world. At this threshold, it is imperative that we learn to respond from a place of grounded presence, rather than reacting out of our fears and habitual ways of doing.
iRest® Yoga Nidra can help. iRest is an evidence based transformative practice that leads to psychological, physical and spiritual healing and well-being. iRest provides you with tools to help you relax deeply, calm your nervous system, release stress, increase resiliency, and provide you with greater mastery and control in your life.
As a proven body-mind practice iRest Yoga Nidra gently guides us to first look within. It is here, where iRest meditation becomes a powerful ally in healing and awakening. Through a gentle guided process of mindful, compassionate self-inquiry you begin to experience that the human body, your body, holds precious information that’s yours for the asking. The practice of iRest meditation offers a comforting reminder, based in both ancient wisdom and validated by modern neuroscience, of our innate ability to harness observation, breath, mindfulness and compassionate inquiry to build an Inner Resource, or indestructible ground of well-being, from which to meet and skillfully navigate our lives no matter the circumstances.
iRest is a path of mindful meditative self inquiry:
At a basic level, it provides the initial building blocks for a mindfulness practice in which one learns to stay present and alert.
At an intermediate level, one learns how to meet challenging experiences, emotions or beliefs in order to integrate and go beyond them.
At the highest level, iRest offers the teachings of direct realization into one’s true nature as abiding peace, infinite calm, and interconnected wholeness.
Much of the research on yoga nidra done in the west is on the iRest protocol specifically, and it suggests that iRest Yoga Nidra effectively reduces stress, insomnia, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, chemical dependency and post-traumatic stress.
iRest Yoga Nidra is a gentle trauma informed practice. No previous experience needed and seasoned meditation students benefit as well. Although, most people prefer lying down, iRest can be practiced in any position.
You are welcomed just as you are. Come and let yourself experience the profound possibilities of restorative rest and the healing journey of iRest Yoga Nidra.
