Stepping Through the Veil
Yoga meets Wild Writing on Stowel Lake Farm, Salt Spring Island, BC
A six-day retreat of yoga, Wild Writing, circling, walking, and nurturing.
with Jen Breen & Laurie Wagner
May 29 – June 3, 2026
7:00am – 7:45pm each day
dear friends,
PLEASE JOIN US FOR SIX MAGICAL DAYS AND FIVE NIGHTS IN THE WOODS WHERE WE WILL RELAX, RETREAT AND RECOVER FROM THE NOISE OF MODERN LIFE.
Stowell Lake Farm is a lush, working farm, and an opportunity to drop into a deeply intuitive, soulful, creative space with other kindreds.
Mornings will be quiet, then we’ll move into our yoga practice, and eventually tumble into the Wild Writing. There will be warm things to drink and cozy nooks to hide away in. We’ll sit in circles and share stories, we’ll walk, and nap. Delicious meals will come from the land, and we promise warm beds, and star gazing at the end of the day.
All these practices – walking, yoga, writing and circling – are meant to loosen us up so we can access what is moving through us and what wants to be expressed. You don’t have to be a yogi or a writer to join us, just someone who is longing for a chance to take a deeper breath, and bring it down a few notches so you can feel like yourself again.
We have spots for 20 people and we’d love for you to join us.
Laurie & Jen
Meet your hosts!
Jen Breen is a yoga teacher, community leader, activist, writer, and joy catcher. Mostly Jen finds her gift in holding safe and brave spaces to simply be human in all of its beauty, complexity, messiness and awe. Jen finds ways to help people connect to what is true and to consciously and creatively move that energy through the body, on the page or in conversation. Jen founded the Bainbridge Yoga House in 2007 on Bainbridge Island, WA. She has been a teacher for over 25 years. Currently she teaches yoga, meditation, and Wild Writing. She is also the facilitator of Mom's Morning Retreat - mentoring and nurturing moms.
Laurie Wagner has been publishing books and essays, and teaching writing for the last 25 years. She is a process guru and has a genius for holding space, helping people unzip what’s inside of them, and get ink on the page. A creative brain-stormer, she specializes in out of the box ways to tell your stories. Her Wild Writing classes are the cornerstone of her live work. She teaches weekly, small groups, and also hosts The Wild Family, a large group of writers from around the world who write together weekly. She is the author of Living Happily Ever After: Couples Talk about Long Term Love, and Expectations: 30 Women Talk about Becoming a Mother. Check out her blog at: 27powers.org
